Samme scoringssystem over hele verden

World Squash Federation har taget initiativ til at undersøge muligheden for at gennemføre et ens scoresystem i squash. WSF inviterer til en projektgruppe, som skal undersøge gennemførligheden af ens scoring verden over. Herunder er brev fra WSF.

Uniform Scoring System

Dear Squash friends and colleagues,

The subject of a uniform scoring system for our sport has often been discussed. Understanding of our great sport and clarity in the scoring system are of great importance if we are to promote ourselves and help squash grow across all levels.

The World Squash Federation have decided to approach this subject, and have requested that a Working Group be formed to report on the facts and opinions present across the globe and evaluate the feasibility of moving the sport to a unified scoring system. The project will focus on recreational players and will study the effect of "new" scoring systems on match duration, physical exertion, and player/spectator enjoyment and understanding. The references during the project will be gained by a comparison between the classic scoring to 9 and the point a rally to 11 (PAR11), the latter already being used by the PSA.

logo_worldsquashAs agreed at the recent WSF AGM, attached is a framework document outlining the project objective, approach, timeline and the key organisations that we need involved.

The purpose of this letter is: (i) to make you aware of the project, (ii) to seek your thoughts and views on the initiative and framework document, (iii) recruit volunteers for the Working Group, and, (iv) recruit volunteering MNFs for the trial phase. The trial phase will consist in running a controlled experiment in which recreational players will test "new" scoring systems and compare their experience vs. current. You will be in charge of running the trial, administering the survey and reporting results back to the Working Group. Test description and survey will be available during early January 2008. We need at least one nation per region.

The project group will aim to present their interim findings at the ESF Annual General Meeting, which is scheduled for May 3rd 2008 in Amsterdam, and, develop recommendations for potential rule changes at the WSF AGM in 2008.

Please support us in this international effort to improve our great sport. Supply material so that our research is as complete possible. Join in and share your thoughts and ideas with us.

Warm regards,

Ian Cherington
